How can GDP help you to achieve the requirements of The Code?

GDP can provide cost benefit analysis for methods of compliance which will be necessary in the early stages of a project to determine the sustainable strategy for a development. Capital cost, tenant/occupier energy cost, lifecycle cost and maintenance costs are also all considered,  in order that a £/CO2 saving can be calculated for each solu tion.

Pre-assessment calculations can be undertaken to provide predicted scores prior to full submission.

What is the Code For Sustainable Homes?

The CFSH replaced the Eco-home housing assessment method in May 2007. The CFSH is currently a voluntary scheme however grant funding for Social Housing Schemes is dependant on demonstrating Code Level 3 (increasing in due course) and some planning authorities also stipulate minimum code standards must be achieved.

What are the key requirements?

There are 6 levels of increasing reduction in Carbon Emissions when compared to the 2005 SAP requirements. These range from 10% reduction (Code Level 1) to 100% reduction (Code Level 6).

In addition to carbon savings the code has many other sustainable requirements including water efficiency, surface water management, waste management, pollution, ecology, health and wellbeing.
